This is a hilly and versatile pine forest area located just northeast of downtown Egersund. Earlier, Egersund’s old waterworks were up here. Today, both the pools and the old stone-lined canals create excitement and variety in the forest environment. With its location, nature and easy-to-use facilities, the Pool is today one of the most used outdoor activities areas in Dalane. The area has a rich vegetation and several kilometers of nature and culture trails. Here you will find lighted trails, viewpoints and picnic areas with good opportunities for activities such as jogging, exercising, ball games, sand volleyball, barbecues and swimming. In addition, you'll find a natural fitness course at Låvaberget.

There is a great new toilet by the swimming area. There are four marked hiking loops in Vannbassengans hilly and versatile pine forest area. Here you will find a selection of all trails and walking paths in the area with varying degrees of difficulty and length, but none of the trails are harder or longer than that most of us can manage a round.

Egersund Orienteering Club has what is called the week’s course. The week’s course is an opportunity for anyone who wants to try orienteering as a walk or exercise. The course maps are available in a marked mailbox at the parking lot and can be borrowed freely as long as they are returned after use. The courses consist of 8 to 10 posts with varying degrees of difficulty and are changed every 14 days throughout the season. One of the posts is marked with «ukas post» (the week’s post), and this has a password connected with it. Anyone who finds this post can write the password from it together with their name, address and phone number on the special reply form in the mailbox, to participate in a prize drawing.

How to reach here: From downtown Egersund, a few hundred meters in the direction of Sokndal. Here you will find the sign that leads you up to a large car park and out into the countryside in this special but beautiful area. The area is well-suited for wheelchair users. Handicap accessible parking. Year-round leash requirement for dogs.
